My first official week of classes ended and I’m so tired the only thing I want to do is sleep for a whole month. Which is stupid because I don’t have that may classes… I guess that having to wake up early every single day makes us all tired :S
I’m currently reading two books. I know, with classes how can you read two books at the same time? Well, I happen to have a class that allows me to read… because it’s so boring that you almost fall asleep so you have to do something. I read while others draw…
So, here the two books I’m reading this weekend:
A gorgeously gothic historical tale from the author of THE PIMPERNELLES
Penniless, and escaping the horrors of life as a governess to brutal households, Maud seeks refuge with the cousin-by-marriage she never knew. But Juliana quashes Maud’s emerging friendships with the staff and locals – especially John, the artist commissioned to restore the sinister Doom in the local church. John, however, is smitten with Maud and makes every effort to woo her.
Maud, isolated and thwarted at every turn, continues to take the laudanum which was her only solace in London. Soon she becomes dependent on the drug – so is this the cause of her fresh anxieties? Or is someone – or something – plotting her demise?
Is the devil in the corner of the Doom a reality, or a figment of her imagination?
CLAIRE DE LUNE and NOCTURNE author Christine Johnson, ed.’s GRIM, an anthology of dark fairy tale retellings, featuring stories by New York Times bestselling authors Ellen Hopkins, Amanda Hocking, Claudia Gray, Rachel Hawkins, Julie Kagawa, and others, to Natashya Wilson at HarlequinTeen, in a nice deal, for publication in Winter 2014, by Caryn Wiseman at Andrea Brown Literary Agency (World).
What about you? What are you reading this weekend?
