Happy Friday people:)
My reading-slump is slowly fading away. It has been three weeks of pure torture and not being able to read properly. But, I admit… it’s also my fault since I’m playing Rise of Berk on my phone and it’s bloody addictive!! I know… that’s not a good excuse but it’s true.
Anyway! This weekend I’ll try to read as much as I can to compensate my lack of reading. I know I won’t be able to even come close to read five books this month but I’m trying to read at least three!
So, take a look at what I’m reading:
On the morning of her sixteenth birthday, Renée Winters was still an ordinary girl. She spent her summers at the beach, had the perfect best friend, and had just started dating the cutest guy at school. No one she’d ever known had died. But all that changes when she finds her parents dead in the Redwood Forest, in what appears to be a strange double murder.
After the funeral Renée’s wealthy grandfather sends her to Gottfried Academy, a remote and mysterious boarding school in Maine, where she finds herself studying subjects like Philosophy, Latin, and the “Crude Sciences.”
It’s there that she meets Dante Berlin, a handsome and elusive boy to whom she feels inexplicably drawn. As they grow closer, unexplainable things begin to happen, but Renée can’t stop herself from falling in love. It’s only when she discovers a dark tragedy in Gottfried’s past that she begins to wonder if the Academy is everything it seems.
Little does she know, Dante is the one hiding a dangerous secret, one that has him fearing for her life.
Dead Beautiful is both a compelling romance and thought-provoking read, bringing shocking new meaning to life, death, love, and the nature of the soul.
So far I’m getting a Twilight-ist vibe with a slice of Harry Potter. The romance feels a lot like Bella&Edward and the whole daily life at Gottfried is very similar to Hogwarts – especially the horticulture classes which reminds me of Herbology 🙂
However, I am very curious about the deaths and why Renée is attracted to it. Also, I want to know more about Dante’s strange paranormal stuff that makes him so cold – I have a theory but I’m not sharing xD
What about you? What are you reading this Friday? Which book(s) will accompany you this weekend?
