I’m so sorry my lack of updates when it comes to this meme. Not only did I forgot (blushes) but I’ve also been slightly busy on Saturdays.

Last two weeks I had a poll going on on my Facebook official blog page where my followers chose the soundtrack they wanted to hear here.

Let me present you the soundtrack that won:

Okay, so I haven’t done of these of a very long time but, to be honest with you all, I didn’t had any, but any, inspiration towards this meme. Which is a shame ’cause I happen to know a lot of great bands that would be simply amazing for several books I’ve read.

So, because I want to share with you something, I’ve decided to resurrect this meme but, instead of adding a song that reminds me a character/book/etc…, I’m going to share with you movie soundtracks.

You’ve read it right: movie soundtracks.

It’s a passion I have thanks to my sister and I have a pretty big collection of soundtracks which gets bigger and bigger with each movie release. We simply love the musicality of scores and we have our particular favourites composers that have been part of our life since forever – yes, I mean John Williams and Alan Menken.

It might not be totally related with books – sometimes a track might be added to a book/character/etc… – but it’ll be something worth sharing.

Band/Artist: Tarja Turunen
Song: The Reign
Year: 2007
Book: Legends of Marithia – Peter Koevari

I’M SO SORRY

I’ve been so lazy with this meme lately I want to slap myself really hard in the face for that. But I have a good reason for that: I’ve been too busy with me moving home!

However, today I’ve decided to post this meme since I’ve mention this song on my last Musing Mondays (#44).

Now, I’m not going to ramble about this song since I’ve already explained myself on that precise post. There is, indeed, something in this music that reminds me the world created by Peter Koevari but I simply cannot explain what exactly. It’s something I feel rather than something I picture – If I’m making myself clear.

So, again I’ll be posting the sang version and the instrumental version of The Reign by ex-Nightwish leading voice Tarja Turunen.

Band/Artist: Within Temptation
Song: Forgiven
Year: 2008
Book: New Moon (Twilight #2) – Stephenie Meyer

SORRY…. SORRY!!

I know I missed last week MBS and I’m so sorry for that. My reason is that I was so excited with my birthday and stuff, I completely forgot.

But, I’m back and with my favourite band as I had promised two weeks ago:)

I know I’ve said several times, and it’s no secret, that I’m tired of The Twilight Saga. I admit being a Twihard in the past and it’s hard to forget things. And one of the things me and my sister found out is that this song by Within Temptation fitted rather well with Bella’s feelings when Edward left her in New Moon.

Actually, the song I had in mind for this week was from their last album but I adore this song a lot. It makes me cry like a baby, special this particular verse:

I’ve been so lost since you’ve gone
Why not me before you?
Why has fate deceived me?”

For someone who has lost someone really important, this verse is like a nuclear bomb.

This version I’ve chosen is from the Black Symphony DVD which is the best concert ever. Too bad I couldn’t go to the real thing but having my sister and twin (aka brother-in-law) giving this to me on my birthday – I believe they gave me this on my 20th birthday, four years ago – was crazy!

Band/Artist: Within Temptation
Song: The Swan Song
Year: 2004
Book: Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters #1) – Juliet Marilier

My Favourite Band!!!

Yes, so this week I had a really hard time choosing a song for this post. Today I’m repeating Adele’s new song for 007 in my mind like there’s no tomorrow so I couldn’t really focus on this post properly. So, I’ve decided to check my old MBS list I have (it’s a piece of paper completely written with not only music for this post but other so not important stuff) and the first song that struck me was this one.

Within Temptation is my favourite band… I bloody love them. And since I saw them live last year on bday (BEST BIRTHDAY EVER), and since it’s a week till the 12th October, I’ve decided that for these two weeks, MBS would be dedicated to them.

So, we will start with one of my favourite songs called The Swan Song and I’ve chosen that as part of Daughter of the Forest by the Master book soundtrack. The reason is pretty obvious, I think; it’s a retelling of The Seven Swans and the song is called The Swan Song so, yah, pretty obvious. But there’s a small part in this song that reminds me of Finbar for some strange reason:

Winter as come for me, can’t carry on.
The chains to my life are strong, but soon they’ll be gone.
I’ll spread my wings one more time.

Yah, don’t ask why I always picture Finbar when I hear that bit but I do. I just see him looking sad but forcing a smile to Sorcha with his wing instead of an arm.

Okay, I have to stop or else I’ll cry and start reading the book again.

So, for this week it’s The Swan Song by none other than the amazing Within Temptation. Next week, check out for another song from this awesome band 😀

Band/Artist: Linkin Park
Song: I’ll Be Gone
Year: 2012
Book: Touch of Power (Avry of Kazan #1) Maria V. Snyder

LINKIN!!!

Oh my, I’m a huge fan of Linkin Park

They’ve been part of my life for quite a long time now and their last album is freaking awesome. And, this song is my favourite. The first time I’ve heard it, I knew it would be part of MBS one day, eventually.

And it did with Touch of Power… it just fits perfectly in my mental idea of the book – visually.

Band/Artist: Rev Theory
Song: You’re The One
Year: 2008
Book: The Hallowed Ones (The Hallowed Ones #1) Laura Bickle

I didn’t even remembered this song… It’s going to sound really pathetic but there was a moment when this song was in loop on my iPod. I absolutely loved it and now that I’ve re-found it, I’ll be sharing it with you.

It’s amazing how I’ve always pictured a story with vampires whenever I listen to You’re the One by Rev Theory.

At first I thought I would drop the books and say “hey, this song fits The Vampire Diaries rather well” but then I remembered I haven’t seen the show recently.

Then, when I was listening to it, I have a brief image of Katie and Alex from The Hallowed Ones – spoilers here but if you’ve read, the scene in the kennel when Katie decides to break ALL the rules in the Amish community.

Band/Artist: We Are the Fallen
Song: Tear Down the World
Year: 2010
Book: Firelight (Darkest London #1)  Kristen Callihan

This week I’ll be choosing a song that has been in constant loop on my Ipod and mind. There’s not a single day in which I don’t play it at least twice. And, I don’t know why, I always associate it with Firelight by Kristen Callihan. I guess it had to do with the simple fact that I was reading the book… but then again, I was also reading The Hallowed Ones and their songs didn’t fit that book. Too much vampires, Amish and apocalypse perhaps.

Anyway, moving on.

I think Tear Down the World melodically fits rather good in this book, characters and paranormal mystery. I think this would be a good song for Archer and his secrets.

Band/Artist: Alan Menken
Song: West Wing from Beauty and the Beast
Year: 1991
Book: Beauty  Robin McKinley

I’m having a huge but very huge problem… I’m only listening to the same thing (perks of having a broken computer and not being able to change what I have on my iPod for months) and that same thing doesn’t “match” what I’m reading or what I’ve read.

Sure one or two work fine with one or two books I’m read last month and all but I would be repeating the bands I’ll already posted.

So, this week I’ll be posting a soundtrack, one of my favourite soundtracks for that matter. And why is that? Well, apart from the explanation mentioned above, I’ve been down with a depression and this score has been helping me go through some tough moments. Also, because it’s a Disney soundtrack and fits amazing well with a books I’ve read in the last couple of months.

Let me present you Alan Menken with the track “West Wing” from Beauty and the Beast. And this song is going to be part of My Book Soundtrack for the book Beauty (I wonder why?!)

Band/Artist: Delain
Song: Start Swimming
Year: 2009
Book: Seer of Sevenwaters (Sevenwaters #5)  Juliet Marillier

I can’t believe I’ve never posted a song from one of my favourite bands. Also, I can’t believe I’ve never posted any song from my favourite band.

Anyway, Delain are a band I really love. I love their genre, their melody and Charlotte’s (the lead singer) voice. Plus, their new album We Are the Others is simply my favourite album of the year…  Okay, perhaps one of the favourites.

So, this song is not from their new album but from their previous one, and the first one I ever listened: Star Swimming is a beautiful power ballad in which I can clearly see Sibeal and Felix from the Master’s Seer of Sevenwaters.

Band/Artist: Evanescence
Song: The Change
Year: 2011
Book: Red Riding Hood  Sarah Blakley-Cartwright

This next song is my favourite from Evanescence‘s new album; The Change. I had a difficult time choosing a “book” for this track, ’cause for me this sounded awesome in almost everything I’ve read.

But, after reading the book from the movie Red Riding Hood, written by Sarah Blakley-Cartwright, I guess I just knew it belonged there.

Band/Artist: Halestorm
Song: I Hate It When You See Me Cry
Year: 2011
Book: Key of Knowledge (Key Trilogy #2)  Nora Roberts

This song, from the moment I’ve heard it for the first time, reminded me of Dana and Jordan from Key of Knowledge by Nora Roberts. The song is called Hate It When You See Me Cry by American rock band Halestorm and it practically resumes Dana feelings toward Jordan.
